Retrograde / Orthograde Root Canal Therapy

Allen Ali Nasseh   uploaded 10 years ago

This patient presented with a failed root canal treated tooth #7 that was treated +5 years ago overseas. The patient has a large periapical lesion and a leaking, old crown. Since financial limitations at the treatment time prevented the patient from proceeding with the ideal treatment of non-surgical root canal retreatment followed by replacement of the old, leaking crown, a compromised treatment plan of addressing the lesion surgically with apicoectomy and retrograde filling was performed. 9 months following treatment, the patient was ready to proceed with the replacement of the crown. An orthograde retreatment was recommended to remove the entire infected root canal filling prior to placement of the new crown. The remarkable healing following placement of the retrofilling despite the presence of continued bacteria further up in the canal shows the remarkable, bacteria-tight seal offered by the BioCeramic Retrofilling material.
