SUNDAY’S LECTURE PRESENTATION: Recent Advances in Endodontics will be reviewed including Endodontic diagnostic techniques and treatment planning. The evidenced-based use of cone beam computed tomography will be reviewed for use in treatment decision analysis and to select the best treatment options for the patient. Local anesthesia, proper endodontic access, use of apex locators, and restoring the endodontically treated tooth will also be discussed. The participant will learn the appropriate use of heat-treated and non-heat treated rotary files for efficient and conservative instrumentation of the root canal system. Obturation with warm gutta percha and bonded obturation with bioceramic sealers will be reviewed. This presentation is a must see for those practitioners committed to clinical efficiency without sacrificing quality care for their patients. During this program:
1. Attendees will be able to appreciate the scientific concepts for success by incorporating new steps during clinical care
2. Attendees will understand the importance of proper endodontic diagnosis and treatment planning in determining the best care for their patients
3. All attendees will understand that restorative dentistry and endodontics are not separate entities but are intimately related
MONDAY’S LECTURE PRESENTATION: We will review diagnosis and treatment options for unsuccessful endodontic therapy and treatment of traumatic dental injuries. Success rates of endodontic therapy, endodontic surgery, and implants will be discussed with complications of each option. The treatment of various dental traumatic
injuries will be shown as well as research on treating the non-vital open apex tooth with regenerative endodontic therapy. Treatment planning and decision making on when to retreat endodontic therapy, perform endodontic surgery or extract the tooth and place an implant will be discussed. The indications for cone beam computed
tomography in endodontic therapy in adults and children will be reviewed with current research on radiation doses. Modern microsurgical endodontic techniques and armamentarium and how they have improved the success rate of endodontic surgery will be demonstrated using ultrasonic and bioceramic materials. The emphasis will
be on performing the best possible treatment on your patients and retaining the natural dentition. During this program:
1. Attendees will be able to classify traumatic dental injuries and their appropriate treatment
2. Attendees will understand the importance of the best treatment options for their patients
3. Participants will gain a better understanding of the use of cone beam computed tomography in diagnosis and treatment planning
